Hunter Hayes to headline US Open Kids’ Day

NEW YORK (AP) — Hunter Hayes is set to join MKTO, the Vamps and other acts at the U.S. Open’s annual Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day.

The “Wanted” singer said in a statement Wednesday that he’s honored to be part of the Aug. 23 event at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, New York, where the last Grand Slam of the year is held in tennis.

New Wimbledon champ Novak Djokovic (NOH’-vak JOH’-koh-vihch) will join French Open champ Rafael Nadal at the festivities, held the weekend before the U.S. Open kicks off. Others slated to participate: Disney star China Anne McClain and Nickelodeon actor Jeff Sutphen, who will co-host the event.

Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day will air Aug. 24 on CBS.
