No charges for Brunswick, Md., officer in shooting

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — Frederick County State’s Attorney Charlie Smith says a Brunswick police officer won’t be criminally charged for shooting a man six times during a domestic disturbance call in November.

The Frederick News-Post (http://bit.ly/1r0Xyac ) reported Tuesday that Officer Bryce McGuire has returned to regular duty.

Smith says his office reviewed a Frederick County Sheriff’s Office investigation into the Nov. 27 wounding of 56-year-old Charles Dinterman at his Brunswick home. Smith says the shots were “a reasonable use of force” by an officer confronting “a potential for deadly force.”

McGuire and another officer had responded to a call from Dinterman’s wife that her husband was intoxicated and breaking things.

Brunswick Police Chief Milton Frech (FRETCH’) says McGuire returned to regular duty Dec. 11, two weeks after the shooting.
