Ex-U.Va. associate dean sentenced for child porn

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — A former associate dean at the University of Virginia has been sentenced to eight years and 10 months in federal prison on child pornography charges.

Fifty-year-old Michael G. Morris of Crozet was sentenced Monday in federal court in Charlottesville. He pleaded guilty in April to two counts of distributing or receiving child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography.

Morris was an associate dean at U.Va.’s McIntyre School of Commerce when he was arrested last November.

Court records show Morris made videos depicting minors in sexual acts available for download to an undercover law enforcement officer on a public file-sharing site. Morris also admitted possessing images or videos of children under age 12. Computers and other items containing child pornography were confiscated during a search of Morris’s home.
