Man dies after being hit by train in Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) — Virginia State Police are investigating the death of a man who was hit by a train in Williamsburg.

State police tell media outlets the CSX train was heading to Richmond when the incident occurred around 1:15 a.m. Monday.

The train’s crew told investigators that they saw the man lying on the track. They couldn’t stop the train in time to avoid hitting him.

State police say the man had no form of identification.

The train was hauling 100 empty coal hoppers.
