Russian pleads guilty in technology export case

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — A Russian man has pleaded guilty in federal court in Delaware to conspiring to export military technology, including night vision equipment, in violation of U.S. law.

Dmitry Ustinov of Moscow accepted a plea agreement Thursday.

Prosecutors say between 2010 and 2013, Ustinov worked with a Virginia-based supplier to purchase and export night vision equipment from the United States to Russia without obtaining any export licenses from the U.S. Department of State.

Ustinov was arrested in 2013 in Vilnius, Lithuania as the request of the United States. He was later extradited to Delaware.

Ustinov is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 2. He faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

An attorney for Ustinov declined comment Thursday evening.
