Nigeria’s Abuja airport closing for runway repairs

LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) — Nigeria’s airports authority says it is again closing the capital’s international airport for runway repairs from Saturday night to Monday morning.

Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (ABV) handles several domestic flights in addition to daily international flights to Europe, the United States and the Middle East provided by Nigeria’s Arik Air in addition to Air France, British Airways, Delta, Lufthansa and Emirates.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria said Tuesday it was satisfied with rehabilitation work carried out on part of the runway last weekend, when the airport first was closed. It said the rest of the work will require the airport to close from midnight Saturday (2300 GMT) to 6 a.m. (0500 GMT) Monday.
