Va. third-party voter registration training begins

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia officials are launching training for third-party voter registration drives.

The state Department of Elections and local general registrars are conducting the training beginning this month.

State law requires individuals or groups requesting 25 or more voter registration applications from to register and receive State Board of Elections-certified training for voter registration drives.

Certifications must be renewed annually.

The training covers topics including best practices for completion of the voter registration application, maintaining the integrity of the voter registration process, as well as prohibited activities. The training also will address important deadlines for submitting completed applications, and laws protecting the privacy of applicants and information including the restoration of felon voting rights.
