2nd hiker in 2 days falls into Potomac

WASHINGTON — For the second time in two days, a hiker is in the hospital after falling 30 feet from a popular trail into the Potomac River.

The hiker fell at about 3:30 p.m. Monday on the Virginia side of the Scott’s Run Nature Preserve, just south of Great Falls.

Sunday afternoon a man was seriously injured after also falling about 30 feet into the water below.

The hiker injured Monday is expected to survive.
