Portland free summer concerts set for July, August

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Maine’s largest city will host a series of outdoor summer concerts on Wednesday and Thursday nights in July and August.

The Portland concerts will take place on Wednesdays at sunset at the Western Promenade, at 12:30 p.m. Thursdays at the bandstand in Deering Oaks Park, and at 7 p.m. Thursdays at Fort Sumner Park.

The series began July 3 and will take place every Thursday at Fort Sumner until Aug. 28. The Deering Oaks concerts will take place July 10, 17, 24 and 31 and Aug. 7. The Western Promenade series is slated for every Wednesday from July 9 to Aug. 13.

Music will include kids camp songs, reggae, progressive bluegrass and many others genres. All concerts are free.
