Albemarle holds public meeting on firearms center

KESWICK, Va. (AP) — Albemarle County officials plan to hold a community meeting later this month on a new regional firearms training center.

The July 17 meeting will be the second of three community meetings. It will be held at the East Rivanna Volunteer Fire Company in Keswick.

The county says in a news release that the meeting will provide an update on the project. Residents also will have an opportunity to review schematic design concepts for the facility.

A third meeting will be held in August to review results of a sound study.

The training center will be located in eastern Albemarle County at a site owned by the University of Virginia. The county says the facility will allow multiple agencies to train together to prepare for joint responses.
