Umpire Dana DeMuth leaves Mariners-White Sox game

CHICAGO (AP) — Second base umpire Dana DeMuth has left the game between Seattle and Chicago after colliding with White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham in the fifth inning.

Beckham ran into DeMuth when he went to catch a throw from center fielder Adam Eaton after Brad Miller took a wide turn around first after a one-out single for Seattle. DeMuth stayed in for the rest of the Mariners’ at-bat, but was not on the field when Chicago batted in the bottom half Sunday.

The game continued with three umpires.
