WASHINGTON – An early voting site at a community center in Northwest was briefly closed Saturday after a man was shot outside the building.

D.C. Board of Elections & Ethics spokeswoman Alysoun McLaughlin says the shooting happened at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday outside the Takoma Community Center.

McLaughlin says an elections official closed the site for about 20 minutes, but no voters were present when the site was shut down.

D.C. police four people were approached by three suspects wearing masks in the parking lot. One of the suspects had a gun. The four people fled the scene.

One of the suspects was shot, but it does not appear to be life-threatening.

Two of the suspects have been arrested, but police are looking for a third.

He’s described as a black male between the ages of 15 and 20 and about six feet tall.

Saturday was the last day of early voting before the April 3 primary when 11 contests will be decided.
