South Hill hospital joins VCU Health System

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Community Memorial Healthcenter in South Hill is now a part of the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System.

An affiliation agreement between the hospital and the health system went into effect Tuesday. The hospital has been renamed VCU Community Memorial Hospital.

The hospital is licensed for 99 acute care beds and 161 long-term care beds. It has about 800 employees and serves Southside Virginia and northern North Carolina.

The health system says in a news release that it will invest at least $75 million in the hospital, including a new facility and health care initiatives.
