‘Mad Men’ scene gives new life for old song

WASHINGTON – Even those who didn’t watch the “Mad Men” season five premiere on Sunday may have heard about a song performed during the show called “Zou Bisou Bisou.”

The song, a French pop hit from 1962 by the artist Gillian Hills, was sung in the episode by Don Draper’s (Jon Hamm) new wife, Megan (Jessica Pare), as a birthday gift to her husband.

The song was a ’60s hit for Hills, and the new rendition has caused a surge of interest. On Sunday night, it zoomed up Twitter’s trending topics list.

Now Lionsgate, the studio that produces “Mad Men,” says it will release Pare’s cover of the song as a single, sold at Apple’s iTunes and as limited edition release on AMC’s website, The New York Times reports.

The song’s title translates loosely to “Oh You, Kiss, Kiss.”
