Police say woman had child in car during chase

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) — Authorities say a woman led law enforcers on a high-speed chase from Delaware to Maryland with her 4-year-old son in the car.

Laurel, Delaware, Police Chief Jamie Wilson tells The Daily Times of Salisbury (http://delmarvane.ws/1qbeKta ) that a woman robbed the Bank of Delmarva about 10:30 a.m. Monday.

Authorities say the woman led police from several departments on a high-speed chase into Maryland. Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis says police laid down spike strips on the Salisbury bypass and the car came to a stop.

Lewis says the child was not hurt and is in protective custody. He says the woman is being held in Wicomico County pending extradition to Delaware to face robbery charges.

The Associated Press is not identifying the woman because she has not been formally charged.
