BLUEFIELD, Va. (AP) — A woman convicted of embezzling from the West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles is facing new charges in Virginia.

Tazewell County Sheriff Brian Hieatt says 47-year-old Rhonda Ann Thomas is charged with grand larceny, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and assault and battery.

Hieatt tells the Bluefield Daily Telegraph (http://bit.ly/1mKSBko ) that Thomas was arrested at her home in Bluefield, Virginia, last week.

Thomas received a suspended sentence and probation in May for her West Virginia conviction. She pleaded guilty in March to embezzlement.

Prosecutors say Thomas embezzled money from the West Virginia DMV while serving as the manager of the agency’s regional office in Princeton, West Virginia.
