Police identify pedestrian struck by vehicle in Rockville

WASHINGTON — Montgomery County police have identified the man who was struck by a vehicle at a busy intersection in Rockville Sunday night.

The pedestrian is Pedro Mendoza, 54, of Rockville. He remains in “grave condition” at a local hospital, police said in a statement.

The crash happened between Norbeck and Baltimore roads just before 9 p.m. Preliminary investigation revealed that a woman was driving a 1999 Acura Integra eastbound on Norbeck Road when she struck Mendoza, who was crossing the road.

Mendoza was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The crash is still under investigation.
