Tom Hanks reunites with Wilson at Rangers game

WASHINGTON – When Tom Hanks was honored at the 2014 Kennedy Center Honors, special guest David Letterman introduced him by joking, “We are honoring a man who was once upstaged by a volleyball.”

Letterman was, of course, referring to Hanks’ Oscar-nominated role in “Cast Away” (2000), where his lonely character befriended a Wilson volleyball made from his own hand print.

This week, the two reunited at a New York Rangers hockey game.

The reunion fittingly came as Sting’s “Message in a Bottle” blared over the speakers at Madison Square Garden. Sting was honored at the same Kennedy Center Honors as Hanks.
