18-year-old fatally shot while leaving party in Maryland

NEWBURG, Md. (AP) — Authorities say an 18-year-old man was killed and another was injured when gunfire broke out as the teens were leaving a party in Maryland.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office says the shooting occurred early Sunday after the two teens showed up uninvited at a party. The sheriff’s office says the men were asked to leave and they left in a car.

Officials say an argument broke out as they passed other vehicles that were stopped on the road. They say suspects in another vehicle shot the teens before fleeing.

The passenger was an 18-year-old from Deale and was pronounced dead. The driver, who’s also 18, was taken to the hospital with injuries that aren’t thought to be life threatening.

Officials didn’t identify the victim or the suspects.
