NCAA allows Ball St transfer to play immediately

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — The NCAA has granted Jeremiah Davis III a waiver, making him immediately eligible to play basketball at Ball State next season.

NCAA rules usually require transfers to sit out one full season before regaining their eligibility. But Davis requested the wavier after he left Cincinnati to return home after his family was displaced by a house fire. Davis moved back in December and sat out the second half of last season.

Davis averaged 2.5 points and 0.9 rebounds as a freshman at Cincinnati, then missed all but four games of his sophomore season because of a wrist injury. He played in just six games last season, averaging 5.0 minutes. Davis could have two seasons of eligibility left if the NCAA also gives him a medical hardship.
