Delta worker hurt in jet engine fire at LaGuardia

NEW YORK (AP) — Authorities say a Delta Air Lines worker has been injured while responding to an engine fire on a plane that landed at New York’s LaGuardia.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the fire broke out at 10:25 p.m. Friday after the arrival of Delta Flight 2166 from Orlando, Florida.

The FAA says airport firefighters extinguished the blaze in the aircraft’s left engine.

FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen says no passengers were injured, but a ramp worker was taken to a hospital.

Betsy Talton with Atlanta-based Delta says the worker is doing well. She says that the fire started after all 120 passengers had deplaned and that Delta maintenance is examining the aircraft.
