Padres plan to recall Jesse Hahn to start Saturday

NEW YORK (AP) — The San Diego Padres plan to recall pitcher Jesse Hahn from Double-A San Antonio to start Saturday against the New York Mets.

Hahn will likely see some familiar faces in the crowd — and the opposing dugout. The right-hander was a high school teammate of injured Mets ace Matt Harvey in Groton, Connecticut, about a 2-hour drive from Citi Field.

Hahn said Friday he plans to leave about 10-15 tickets for family and friends but expects his cheering section could be larger.

It will be his second major league start, following a 4-1 loss to Pittsburgh on June 3 in San Diego. Hahn lasted 3 2-3 innings in that game, allowing four runs and six hits — including homers by Pedro Alvarez and Neil Walker.

A sixth-round draft pick out of Virginia Tech in 2010, the 24-year-old Hahn was obtained from Tampa Bay in January as part of a seven-player trade.
