Cuba: 4 dead in presumed ‘illegal exit’ attempt

HAVANA (AP) — Cuban authorities say four people are dead in connection with an apparent attempt to leave the island illegally.

The Interior Ministry reports that the bodies were found Tuesday on a farm in the coastal town of Playa Baracoa, just west of Havana in Artemisa province.

A Ministry statement Wednesday says the deaths are “associated with a presumed illegal exit plan with support from abroad.”

It adds that the victims died “violently,” but does not give more details.

Six suspects were detained.
