Man dies in Montgomery Co. head-on crash

WASHINGTON – A man died in a head-on crash in Montgomery County Wednesday afternoon.

Around 4 p.m., a 1996 Saturn SL traveling eastbound on Sandy Spring Road in Burtonsville crossed into the westbound lanes of Sandy Spring Road near Route 198 and collided head-on with a 2006 Mercedes E-350.

Emergency crews transported both drivers to an area hospital, where the man driving the Saturn died, Montgomery County police said in a news release. Police are not releasing the name of the victim until his family has been notified.

The driver of the Mercedes, 39-year-old Salamatu Kuyateh, of Silver Spring, has non-life threatening injuries, police said Wednesday evening.
