Navy to hold Veterans Classic hoop doubleheader

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Navy will face Michigan State and Tennessee will meet VCU in the inaugural Veterans Classic, a Nov. 14 basketball doubleheader at Navy’s Alumni Hall that will celebrate Veterans Day.

A release Monday announcing the doubleheader stated the event would run annually through 2017, with Navy hosting teams from around the country each year. The other three participating schools will have the opportunity to tour the Naval Academy and get a glimpse of what life is like as a midshipman.

Tennessee and VCU will start this year’s doubleheader. Michigan State will play Navy in the second game. Both games will be nationally televised.

This will mark Tennessee’s first regular-season game under new coach Donnie Tyndall. Michigan State, Tennessee and VCU all reached the 2ors014 NCAA tournament.
