Making Christmas memories in DC: Tourists, locals gather at National Christmas Tree

While many of us spend the holidays at home, others travel to celebrate with their loved ones in person, including here in the D.C. region.

WTOP joined tourists and locals on Christmas morning as they visited the National Christmas Tree.

While some have made running by their favorite D.C. holiday spots an annual tradition, others made the nation’s capital a pit stop so they could fulfill their daughter’s Christmas wish.

Two ways to quickly wipe out debt from pricey Christmas shopping

Lingering holiday debt is already putting a damper on 2025 for people reeling with regret from pricey Yuletide shopping sprees. A little more than one-third of shoppers polled by consumer education group CardRates.com said they will carry Christmas credit card debt for the next three months. But just two healthy money habits can get rid of debt fast, according to Erin Cox, the financial and community economic specialist for Virginia Cooperative Extension.
