A 25-year-old man faces a series of felony charges after police say he shot another man at Worldgate Shopping Centre in Herndon, Virginia, Sunday night.
Herndon police said Mohamed Abdalla was taken into custody Monday night without incident. He’s charged with four felonies, including malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of felony, and two counts of abduction.
On Sunday night police said an officer was on patrol in the area of Worldgate Drive and Elden Street around 7:40 p.m. when he heard what he believed to be gunshots.
He approached Worldgate Centre and saw a vehicle speed away. The officer followed the vehicle to the Dulles Toll Road, but eventually lost sight of it.
Officers received a call about a man with multiple gunshot wounds in the shopping center parking lot. He was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries but is in stable condition, a police spokeswoman said Monday morning.
Police said Abdalla and the man who was fatally shot knew each other.
Abdalla was arrested in the 1000 block of Kings Court at around 7 p.m. on Monday. He’s in custody at the Fairfax County Detention enter.
Before Abdalla was taken into custody, police had warned the public he “should be considered armed and dangerous.”
On Tuesday morning Herndon police said more details would be provided “pending additional investigation.”
