ATV driver dead, passenger hospitalized after crash in Prince George’s Co.

The driver of an all-terrain vehicle is dead and his female passenger has critical injuries after a crash involving a pickup truck in Capitol Heights, Maryland, Monday night.

Prince George’s County police said officers responded to the 7500 block of Walker Mill Road, at Longleaf Drive, west of Walker Mill Regional Park, for a crash involving an ATV and a pickup truck around 10 p.m.

The adult male driver of the ATV, identified as 29-year-old Ronald Hayes, of Upper Marlboro, was pronounced dead after being transported to a hospital.

A female passenger of the ATV was taken to the hospital with what police called critical injuries.

According to police, the pickup truck driver was not injured and remained on the scene of the crash.

Investigators are working to determine the circumstances that led to the crash.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — The parents of former Maryland football player Isaiah Hazel have launched a foundation in his memory after he was killed in a car crash two years ago. At a launch event on campus, the Isaiah Lee Hazel Foundation awarded its first Isaiah Lee Hazel Memorial Scholarship to walk-on defensive lineman Joshua Simmons to help cover meal expenses during the school year.
