A man from Falls Church, Virginia, was convicted Friday for illegally possessing unregistered firearm silencers, according to prosecutors.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia said that a jury convicted Hatchet Speed, 41, on charges related to his purchase of three silencers from a company in Georgia during March 2021.
Prosecutors said that Speed didn’t report any of the purchased silencers to the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record, which is required by law. He was able to acquire the silencers within a week of purchasing them because of that work around.
Speed met with an undercover FBI employee in early 2022, where he talked about his antisemitic and anti-government beliefs and taking violent action.
According to prosecutors, he admired the jihadists’ way of wiping out the opposition in getting rid of Jewish people.
He told the undercover employee that the unregistered silencers would help him complete his mission to wipe out Jewish people.
Speed bought at least 12 firearms from February 2021 to May 2021 and spent over $40,000 at stores which sold firearms, court records said.
He will be sentenced on April 13 and could face up to 30 years in prison.
