The FBI says the ‘barricade situation’ at Fort Belvoir Army base in Virginia has been resolved and that a person has been taken into custody. Beginning around 8 a.m. Sunday morning, local law enforcement, military police and the FBI Washington Field Office’s (WFO) National Capital Response Squad were responding to an active ‘barricade situation’ at U.S. Army base Fort Belvoir in Fairfax County, Virginia. Around 3 p.m., after a 7-hour standoff, the situation was resolved and a “subject” was taken into custody, according to a tweet from the FBI Washington Field Office.

No details on motive, the nature of the threat or persons involved has been released. Officials from Fort Belvoir say that victim services will be offered to anyone affected by the incident.

The FBI tweeted that the Army Criminal Investigation Division is taking the lead on investigating the incident. WUSA9 reported that the situation was inside a home. Fort Belvoir sits on about 8,800 acres of land along the Potomac River in Fairfax County and is located about 20 miles (32 kilometers) south of Washington. The installation has 2,154 family housing quarters and seven child youth service facilities, according to Fort Belvoir’s 2022 strategic plan.
