Four people are in the hospital with minor injuries after a police pursuit in Fairfax County, Virginia, that ended with a crash and the seizure of drugs and weapons.
Fairfax County police said they saw a stolen SUV from Prince George’s County, Maryland, right before 5 p.m. traveling northbound on U.S. Route 1 south of the Capital Beltway near Fort Hunt Road.
The SUV had been stolen during a carjacking.
Officers tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver did not stop and continued to drive away.
The chase ended with a rollover crash into southbound Route 1 near Huntington Avenue.
The police used what is known as a Precision Immobilization Technique to stop the vehicle. The technique forces a fleeing vehicle to abruptly turn 180 degrees, causing it to stall and stop, according to a description from the U.S. Justice Department.
The four people in the vehicle were taken to the hospital and are in custody.
Officers found two guns and drugs in the vehicle.
Police told WTOP that any charges would come out Friday, police said.
