In addition to making the rounds with the team and staff, Robinson joked he was fulfilling his “rookie duties” of getting snacks for the other running backs. Robinson was shot in an attempted carjacking Sunday afternoon in Northeast D.C. Police Chief Robert Contee said Monday morning that Robinson fought back against one gunman and was shot by a second as the two tried to take his car. A law enforcement source said Robinson was at Crab Boss restaurant, at 10th and H streets in Northeast, getting seafood before the shooting at around 5:30 p.m. During his Tuesday press conference, Commanders Ron Rivera — who visited Robinson at the hospital after the shooting — said the rookie met with team doctors to grasp on where he was health-wise to play for the upcoming season. Robinson was named to Washington’s 53-man roster but it is unclear if he will be placed on the Non-Football Injury list as he recovered from the shooting. If he is added to the list, Robinson will be required to miss at least four games. With a rather vague quote, Rivera hinted that the Commanders are weighing all of its options. “Anything close to a certain situation, we’ll do one thing,” he said. “Close to another situation, we’ll do something else.” WTOP’s Megan Cloherty and NBC Sports Washington contributed to this report.
