Md. authorities find body of 10-year-old swimmer

Authorities in St. Mary’s County, Maryland, have found the body of a 10-year-old girl who went missing while swimming Sunday afternoon.

Genesi Elizabeth Sosa-Bonilla was found Monday near the spot where she was last seen in the water around 1 p.m. Sunday in Piney Point, Maryland.

The victim had been swimming with another 10-year-old and an adult at Camp Merryelande, located at 15914 Camp Merryelande Road, when the current pulled them into the Potomac River.

“The adult made it to shore safely, and one of the two juveniles was rescued from the water by citizens nearby,” the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Monday.

The Sheriff’s Office says it and the Coast Guard were at the scene all night looking for the girl.
