6 injured after Aspen Hill crash

Six people are injured, one of them seriously, after a crash in Maryland’s Aspen Hill early Thursday morning.

Montgomery County first responders were called to the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Atherton Drive around 7:30 a.m. Thursday for a crash involving a 1997 Ford F150 and a 2015 Kia Optima.

A crash investigation determined the Ford F150, which had been pulling a utility trailer behind it, had attempted a left turn from eastbound Atherton Drive to north Connecticut Avenue when it collided with the southbound Kia Optima in the middle of the intersection.

The Ford 150’s driver and passenger were transported to a hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. All four occupants of the Kia Optima, including the driver, were also transported for treatment.

A juvenile passenger in the Kia Optima sustained life-threatening injuries, Montgomery County police said in a news release.

The WTOP Traffic Center reports Connecticut Avenue reopened around noon following a four-hour closure between Weller Road and Independence Street for a crash investigation.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact detectives at 240-773-6620.

Weasel couldn't have known he would soon become part of what became — and remains — a musical and cultural phenomenon.
