Man shot near Nationals Park

A man was shot in a vehicle and seriously wounded Wednesday morning near Nationals Park.

D.C. Police Chief Robert Contee told reporters that police first got a call for a domestic incident around 8 a.m. on K Street Southwest. Around five minutes later, they got another call for a shooting about a half-mile away on South Capitol Street near Nats Park.

Police found the man in a vehicle suffering from serious injuries, and he was taken to the hospital. The suspected shooter took off in a black SUV, Contee said.

South Capitol Street was closed between N and P streets for several hours.

Police are still investigating the shooting, which Contee said has “domestic overtones” and was related to the earlier call.
