Morning frost precedes warm afternoon for DC region

Frost in the morning followed by temperatures flirting with 70 degrees by the day’s end? Welcome to spring in the D.C. area. Chilling lows are to blame for a unique spring frost advisory that is felt by early risers Monday morning, especially those in parts to the north of the Beltway. The advisory follows days of rain, wind and unseasonably low temperatures across the region with eight of the first 10 days of April dropping below averages, according to Storm Team4 meteorologist Chuck Bell.

Though once the advisory ends around 9 a.m. Monday morning, Storm Team4 Meteorologist Somara Theodore told WTOP that highs will be near the 70s for parts of region. The warmth will be a mid-week trend that shows some summery characteristics, with highs expected to graze the 80s around Wednesday and Thursday until rain comes into the picture that evening, according to Bell. “Wednesday will be dry for most but Thursday will come with a chance of rain and thunderstorms by later in the afternoon as a cold front passes through,” Bell said. The return of wet weather toward the end of the week will gradually cool us back into seasonal temperatures by the time the weekend rolls around.

Dropping temps, gusting winds kick off Presidents Day weekend in DC area

Hold on to your hat and zip up your jacket because it's a windy and chilly Friday in the D.C. area. Here's what you need to know. After a rainy and warm start to the day, there was a wind advisory issued by the National Weather Service for the area before it expired. Wind chill temperatures will drop in the 20s and 30s Friday night, a big dip from earlier temperatures in the mid 50s.
