Police: Suspect attempted to sexually assault Georgetown student, burglarized home

A man attempted to sexually assault a male Georgetown University student before burglarizing the victim’s home early Sunday morning, according to authorities.

D.C. police said that the suspect entered the student’s home in the 3500 block of O Street, Northwest around 4:30 a.m. Sunday.

According to police, the victim was asleep when he awoke to the suspect attempting to engage in unwanted sexual contact. Once the victim was awake, police said that the suspect took property belonging to the victim while fleeing the scene.

Police described the suspect as a white man, standing 5’8 tall and between the ages of 20 – 35, who was wearing a dark jacket, sweatpants and a red, white and blue beanie with a pom-pom-like ball on top.



Georgetown University Police released a safety statement to the community confirming that the student was touched “in a sexual manner.” They said that D.C. police also discovered no signs of forced entry or theft in the home.

D.C. police are asking anyone with information to call 202-727-9099 or text the department’s tip line at 50411.
