A woman and a baby girl are dead after a fire in a Waldorf, Maryland, row house Thursday night, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office said. Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Diane Richardson said authorities are investigating the cause and manner of death for the woman and the infant, and it’s unclear if they died before the fire, which firefighters responded to around around 10:30 p.m. in the 3000 block of Heathcote Road.
Richardson added that a man jumped out a window and had minor injuries. The Maryland State Fire Marshall is looking into whether the fire was intentional or accidental, Richardson said. A call for an assault came in at the same time as a call for the fire, but authorities can’t say whether or not the two are connected. Video of the fire shows the flames coming out of the second story of the house as fire ladders are propped up to windows. Hight winds swept debris from the burning house.
