Police ID teenager found dead in Germantown

Police in Montgomery County, Maryland, have identified the young man found dead Monday.

Officers headed to the 18900 block of Grotto Lane, a residential street off Great Seneca Highway in Germantown around 3 p.m. after receiving a report of a dead body found outside.

When they arrived at the scene, officers discovered the body of a male possibly in his late teens. Police identified him as Jailyn Lawrence Jones, 17, of Germantown. He was a student at Northwest High School.

Principal Scott E. Smith In a letter sent to parents Tuesday that Jones had a “large personality, infectious smile and amazing spirit.” Mental health care personnel were available to students Tuesday.

The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine how Jones died. Anyone with information on what happened or had seen Jones recently in the area of Grotto Lane should call Montgomery County police at 240-773-5070.

DC’s Mormon Temple releases extra visitors tickets

Due to "popular demand," the Washington D.C. Temple in Kensington, Maryland, is releasing additional tickets to its open house before it closes in mid-June. Tickets are free and are only required to enter the parking lot or use the Metro bus shuttle. They can be found on the temple's website.
