Police: Driver dead after crashing into tree in Prince George’s Co.

A driver died after her car left the road and struck a tree around 7 a.m. on Sunday morning in Prince George’s County, Maryland, police say. The driver was headed westbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Highway when the single vehicle crash happened near Whitefield Chapel Road. She died on the scene, according to police. The crash closed MD-704 between US-50 and Whitefield Chapel Road from around 7 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Suspected impaired driver rescued from burning car in Beltsville crash; trooper injured

Some Maryland state troopers are being credited with saving the life of a suspected impaired driver in Beltsville, Maryland, who the Maryland State Police said caused a fiery crash that injured one of their own. Shortly after 2 a.m. on Monday, a state trooper was assisting with another crash on Route 1 at Ritz Way when Francis Ndoh, 29, of Laurel, crashed his Ford Focus into the back of the trooper's patrol car, police said. Investigators said the trooper's car had its emergency lights on.
