A man who pleaded guilty to pointing a gun out a car window at a Waldorf man, his daughter and granddaughter has been sentenced to 25 years in prison, with all but seven years suspended.
Charles County Circuit Court Judge H. James West sentenced Christian Camron Keys, 22, to the sentence, with three years of probation, for first-degree assault. Keys will serve a concurrent five-year sentence for possession of a regulated firearm under the age of 21.
State’s Attorney Tony Covington said Keys entered his guilty plea on Dec. 10 for the crime that occurred Oct. 22, 2020.
On that day, Keys drove to the home of his girlfriend Daijon Owens, argued with her and “bit Owens on the mouth, causing her to bleed,” Covington said in a news release.
Keys left but came back an hour later and spoke again with Owens. Her mother intervened. According to the release, the woman’s husband, William Dillard, then arrived and asked Keys what the two had been talking about. Keys told Dillard, “I got something for you,” then left the home in his Chevy Impala.
A short time later, Keys returned. From a car window, Keys pointed a gun at Dillard, his daughter and granddaughter, the prosecutor said.
Keys then took off in the car but struck two other cars while fleeing. He and another man in the vehicle ran from the scene and were later tracked down by a police K9 team.
