An alleged abduction of a teenage girl reported to the Loudoun County, Virginia, Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday turned out to be false. On Tuesday, the sheriff’s office said they were investigating a report that a teenage girl was almost abducted by a Black man who asked her for gas money around 4 p.m. near the intersection of Main and High streets. On Wednesday, the sheriff’s office concluded there was no attempted abduction. “An investigation conducted by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has determined that there was no attempted abduction in Round Hill as was reported last night to law enforcement,” the department said in a statement.

The juvenile teenaged female did have contact with a driver who asked her for gas money but at no time did he attempt to assault or harm her.

Deputies were called to the scene just before 4:30 p.m., with the sheriff’s office initially reporting that the teenager broke free from the suspect after he grabbed her. Detectives checked the area for surveillance cameras that may have recorded the incident on video. WTOP’s Glynis Kazanjian contributed to this story.
