Police investigating after 2 men seriously injured in fall from Montgomery Co. balcony

Two men suffered traumatic injuries in a fall from a second-floor balcony in Montgomery County, Maryland, Monday morning. First responders were called to Cypress Spring Road in Clarksburg about 8 a.m., a spokesman for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue said on Twitter. Both men were evaluated at the scene for traumatic injuries. One was said to have life-threatening injuries, according to police. A Montgomery County police spokeswoman told WTOP one of the men is 38 and the other is 42. She said police are investigating the circumstances of the fall, but it appears a portion of railing on the deck gave way. One of the men was taken by medevac helicopter to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, and the other was taken by ambulance to Suburban Hospital in Bethesda. Cypress Spring Road is a community of town houses south of Ovid Hazen Wells Recreational Park.

Montgomery College announces new president: Jermaine Williams

A new president of Montgomery College will be announced Friday afternoon, school officials said. Williams has 20 years of experience in higher education and he is the president of Nassau Community College in Garden City, New York.
