The lights are back on for about 1,000 people on the north end of Old Town Alexandria after an equipment failure cased a power outage Friday afternoon.

Dominion Energy confirmed the restoration of power for all customers just before 8:30 p.m.

The outage — which started at around 2:30 p.m. — covered a larger part of Old Town, initially leaving over 3,000 customers without power.

Dominion said they was working to repair a piece of equipment that failed at the termination point, where overhead lines meet equipment that’s underground.

Initially, the outage covered a larger part of Old Town until Dominion did some rerouting and switching.
