Fire set outisde Landover Hills apartment building caused $200K in damage

A fire that was set outside an apartment building in Landover Hills, Maryland, early Monday caused $200,000 in damage. Prince George’s County investigators ruled the fire incendiary and continue to investigate.

Firefighters were on the scene of the fire in the 4000 block of Warner Avenue at the Verona at Landover Hills just after 4 a.m. Flames engulfed all floors of the four-story garden apartment building. No one was hurt, but the fire displaced 12 adults and four children.

Fairmount Heights officer charged with kidnapping, perjury and misconduct

A police officer in Fairmount Heights, Maryland, has been charged with kidnapping, perjury and misconduct, according to the state prosecutor's office. In a statement, Maryland State Prosecutor Charlton Howard III said Phillip Dupree — who was indicted in August for allegedly participating in conspiracies to commit bank fraud, wire fraud and mail fraud — was indicted by a Prince George’s County grand jury.
