8-year-old boy shot and killed in Prince George’s County

An 8-year-old boy has died after being shot in Prince George’s County, Maryland, on Tuesday night. Prince George’s County Police said it happened in the 1600 block of Brightseat Road in Landover, near Kenmoor Middle School. “At about 8:20 p.m. tonight, a white sedan rolled inside the parking lot,” Prince George’s Police Chief Malik Aziz said during a news conference. “A male of unknown race at this time got out of the vehicle and began to fire a weapon inside of multiple complexes, multiple units, striking an 8-year-old kid, killing [him].” Malik said the investigation is ongoing and that he was planning to visit the family at the hospital.

Prince George’s man pleads guilty to federal drug-trafficking charges

A Prince George’s County, Maryland, man pleaded guilty Monday to charges of trafficking heroin and cocaine, as well as gun charges. Charles Benjamin Stewart Jr., 46, of Upper Marlboro, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute heroin and cocaine; illegally transporting a firearm obtained out of state; and possession with intent to distribute heroin and cocaine, federal prosecutors said in a statement Tuesday.
