1 dead in Prince George’s Co. crash involving tractor-trailer

One person is dead following a highway crash south of Brandywine, Maryland, on Thursday morning, the Maryland State Police said.

Police responded to the southbound lanes of U.S. Route 301 near Clymer Drive, around 4:30 a.m. for reports of a two-vehicle crash.

Christopher Robin Barnes Jr., 26, of Waldorf, Maryland, was making a left turn from northbound Route 301 onto Clymer Drive at around 4:30 a.m. when he failed to yield to a tractor-trailer traveling south on Route 301, the police said.

Barnes struck the tractor-trailer and was pronounced dead in the crash.

Police said the driver of the tractor-trailer remained at the scene. The road was closed for about four hours, reopening fully at about 9:45 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation.

University of Maryland police discover man dead on campus
