Driver seriously hurt in Gaithersburg carjacking; police seek suspects

The police are looking for two suspects after a man was seriously hurt during a carjacking in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Montgomery County police said that a man was carjacked on the 400 block of Whetstone Glen Street at around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said in a news release Thursday that two suspects entered a residential garage on Whetstone Glen Street and interacted with the man before stealing his black Lexus SUV.

The man climbed onto the hood of his SUV as one of the carjackers drove away in it, and hung onto the car for about 100 yards before falling off, the police said.

Police found the man lying face down in the intersection. He was transported to the hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

One suspect drove away in the SUV, while the other fled the scene in an older model, gold Chevrolet Malibu.

Montgomery County police said the vehicle was located Wednesday night in D.C.

Anyone with information about the carjacking is urged to call D.C. police at 240-773-5070.
