Car crash in Fairfax Co. kills 1

A man is dead after a car crash in Lorton, Virginia, Monday afternoon.

Fairfax County police said the crash happened before 4 p.m. at Ox Road and Palmer Drive.

The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unknown how many vehicles were involved in the accident.

Northbound lanes on Ox Road were closed for almost four hours as police investigated the crash.

The incident is still under investigation.

Open house scheduled for proposed Fairfax indoor ski facility, development

There’s an effort underway to convert part of the Interstate 95 Lorton Landfill into a snow-based “recreation destination” called Fairfax Peak. Plans for Fairfax Peak were submitted to Fairfax County, Virginia, officials by McLean-based Alpine-X in late 2018. The proposed development includes indoor skiing, snowboarding and other winter sports. It would also feature a hotel, shops and restaurants.
