A man was found dead in a Chantilly, Virginia, parking lot early Friday.

Fairfax County police said they responded at 4:50 a.m. to the 4300 block of Chantilly Shopping Center Drive and found him dead in the parking lot.

On Friday night, police identified the man as Brian Constanza-Campos, 26, of Herndon.

Police Chief Kevin Davis said at a briefing Friday morning that a motive and the circumstances of the shooting remain unknown.

Davis said that, due to the time of the shooting, there probably weren’t a lot of people in the parking lot, “but there was some people out and about.”

“So like any other crime, it’s always been my experience that someone out there watching this knows a little bit of something. And we’re asking that person who might know just a little bit about either a victim or circumstances surrounding this incident to call Crime Solvers — it’s often the smallest thing,” Davis said.

The chief said authorities have “drones up in the air and not only are we looking for crime scene evidence, but we’re looking for cameras that are available for us to go review.”

Davis said that while camera footage might not capture the crime in progress, it could show investigators the victim coming or going, a suspicious vehicle or the potential gunman coming and going on foot.

The shopping center is adjacent to the Dulles Expo Center.
